Got a Yamaha M4!!!! But needs work

Protect relay contacts. If you using speaker A then try speaker B or vice-versa.There are two seperate relays.

Hmm you know, your right! I haven't even tried speaker B side. As I said earlier, sound will register on the meters which means if after the pre-driver and driver boards and its right at the power amp board right? If that makes any since that i said there, haha. So means dirty contacts on the relay.

I'll try speaker B tonight and see.

Thanks Dave!

If it is relays, order a couple of them and I can install them for you.

I might just as well do that instead of cleaning them and risk them going bad again.

I have the M4 down right now cause I'm tryin to clean the damn power switch in the CR-1020 so I put the Marantz back in place. And man do I have to say their is a definant difference in sound. I want my M4 back in play!!! Haha

I need to find a suitable pre like a C4 but I can never find one for sale at all.

If you find a source for direct replacements please let me know. The relays I use are not drop-in replacements and require a little chassis modification.

Trying to remember here, but I think I used MY4-02-DC12 relays in the one I worked on recently. Clip the NC leads and drilled a couple holes in the pcb for the two extra "wired" pins on the relay and paralleled the corisponding channels via a jumper wire under the board. Worked like a champ.

Sooo I know my thread hasn't had an update in almost a year to the date haha well I'd like to let you know that it does seem to be the relays causing the drop outs in the channels.

I can see the music register on the meters whether it be A or B speakers and I just tried B speakers tonight and its way worse than A. Like right as soon as i turned the music on no sound in the left channel so had to turn the volume up on the pre-amp to make it go.

Its better on A speakers like when I turn the amp on it will occasionally drop out on the right channel but after about 30 or 40 minutes it won't drop out any.

Also, whenther it be A or B speakers you can hear a slight hint of distortion in the speakers. Not as much in A after being warmed up so.

I guess its the relays would you say? I mean i can see the music register on the meters so.
