Got Fisher?

I just picked up 6 Fisher separates from a house about 20 minutes from me. There are 3 Fisher 400 receivers, 1 Fisher 500C receiver, 1 Fisher FM100 tuner, and 1 Fisher x202 amplifier. They are not in the best condition but the price was right. The discoloration on the amplifier was due to it sitting on a basement floor.

I usually start with alcohol. thing is try to save the lettering. not sure if the face is plated or Brass.
theyNo doubt all need to be gone over by a qualified tech, and the tubes tested.

Your best bet with that X202 is to set up a saved search on eBay for a replacement faceplate, or get one made. That thing is dead.

Those are plated steel, aren't they?

Plated steel or solid brass, it doesn't matter. That kind of corrosion will almost certainly have obliterated the screen printing. It's far enough out of the actual control markings that it could be made presentable and usable, but to look good, replacement is the only thing I can see being successful.

Solid brass can be polished and re-screened or even engraved. I spoke to one of my customers about it. He runs a sign graphics shop. He said there are pretty durable inks that can be used to retain the original look. If it's plated steel, it's only good for using for dimensions and font layout for sure.

I got the X-202 working. I'm looking for the 9 pin dummy plug that is on the rear of the chassis. It was missing when I picked up the amplifier. The RK-1 Remote Control would normally plug into this 9 pin female connector. Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase the 9 pin male plug? Thank you.

Jon , no expert here but I do think that the receptacle for the plug can be hardwired. Someone will chime in....

It can be hardwired internally. Jumper pin 1 to pin 3. And Jumper Pin 6 to Pin 8. Or use a couple of paper clips and jumper 1 to 3 and 6 to 8.
