Got my ADS L-620's Back

That's the last time I give away my ADS L-620's. I managed to talk a lady friend into thinking she needed smaller speakers. Of course, I'll do a swap and make sure she is happy. She fought back a little saying how much she liked the ADS sound. I said, "trust me, I know my stereos".

I have a pair of L780/2's that I acquired soon after "giving away" my L620's. Then I discovered the three-way 780's were not quite as good as the two way L620's. Everytime I was over at her place, I wanted them back so the scheming commenced until I finally got them back today. I won't tell you what I had to do to get them back but it was worth it...
 
Not sure if the 780's are the best representation of the 3-ways. The 880/980's are probably better with the bigger mid dome. Are the 620's the ones with the bronze metal grills?

Then you get married and it's all free! But then kids come around and it gets a LOT MORE expensive. LOL

I've got some 420's on their way to me and I'm curious how the smaller two ways will sound. I'll end up doing a comparison with my new AR4x speakers once I get finished rebuilding them.
 
ADS: Right and left speaker???

OK, I may be showing my ignorance here never having heard such thing before, but I have seen several references to "right" and "left" ADS speakers. Having inspected my pair of L-810's (early) "inside and out", I cannot find any differences between the two, whatsoever.

Can someone explain if the L-810 is supposed to be left and right handed and if so, how to identify which is which? Which one is right and which one is left?

There is not L R for the 810's. There are some ADS speakers, mainly the 1230, 1530, 2030 that were L R. There maybe others that are L R but maybe other members can add to the list. Here's a picture of a pair of 2030's and you'll notice the location of the tweets. The tweets should be on the inside not outside like in the picture.

You are right about the kids being expensive part though:thmbsp: Can you tell what season it is just from that?

You have no idea....I have twins and their birthday is December 26th. It's total chaos at my house those two days. :banana:

Nice 420's. Are they the equivalent model of the 470/2?

I like them a lot. Better imaging than my three-way 780/2's although with less bass. Unlike my Boston HD10's, the 470's stay composed with volume and unlike my Polk 7's, very nicely balanced. Both the HD10's and 7's have passive radiators, the ADS shows why they are not needed. Rated at 100 watts. ADS all the way!
 
I thought the 2-way 620s sounded better than the 3-way 780/2s too. But I sold the 620s cause I like the real veneer and metal grills over the vinyl and cloth grills.

But now I'm going to sell the 780s and keep the 2-way 570s which look and sound similar to the 780s but in a smaller cabinet. They may not be accurate but they have a nice forward sound that I like. I going to sell my 710s too, because I compared them to my large Advents.

I think they are similar but that's as much as I know. I think the 470/570/670 are all newer versions of the 420/520/620's.

OP, are the Large Advents larger than the 710's?
 
L810s, L880s, L730s, L630s are all the same size- and similar to the Large advents- and much closer in size than the L4xx/L5xx series.

Also, the L710s are smaller than the L810s, L880s, L730s, and L630s. I imagine the L780s are close to the L710s. anyone refute/deny this guess?

I got L630s and L570 IIs, and Large Advents. just for reference.
