Got Praise for a Fellow AK Member? Post it here

Life has gotten in the way of this hobby of late, but just last night, I enjoyed a previously unlistenable John Martyn "Piece By Piece" record that your record rotisserie brought back around.

The results are like Mike Tyson's defense (as he once comically and incorrectly said) - IMPETUOUS (s.i.c.)

Took me a while to embrace US cleaning as well but I'm convinced. Now to actually be able to afford one....

Hey Ak, I was looking for a tube tester near me and there are none in my immediate area of central Mass so I searched the tube testing thread and found a gentleman about an hour away from me. His handle is Prelius, first name Paul, and so I sent him a message asking him if he could test my tubes on the new to me ST-70 amp. He got back to me saying that he could test the tubes for me. I told him my location and asked when we could get together to do the testing. He said that instead of me driving an hour he would bring his tester to work with him, which is about 15 minutes from me, and I could meet him there instead of going all the way to Boston. We met up and he tested all the tubes for me in about an hour. He has a beautiful tube tester and I just wanted to thank him for going out of his way, in my opinion not his, and doing this for me at no charge. Paul is one of the nicest people I have met and I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to him for helping me out. He is a true gentleman and said he just wanted to help. I know this forum is full of people who are always willing to help but he really went out of his way for me. Thank you so much Paul and may you and your family be blessed and have a wonderful holiday season. This is one of the reasons that I love this forum. Paul said I am just a music enthusiast and just glad to help, Outstanding. Thanks again Paul and if there is anything I could help you out with in the future do not hesitate to ask.

There seems to be so many positive remarks being made from the newbies coming on board in respect to AK, and the distinctive friendly community-like nature that AK provides.

The social aspect is pronounced on this site, and the tech-part is still present for those who dip from it from time to time.

I thank those who have helped me as of late with some suggestions for some minor electronic fixes, and the personal reach-outs via the message route.

And of course, the "Gamers" who partake in the daily banter that takes place around the "fireplace".

So, no mention of individuals... just a host of audio folk who care for sound as well as for each other! Thank you!

Just want to say that I had a great experience with MCM_Fan a few months back. I sent him a pair of crossovers to be rebuilt. He was very upfront in letting me know his suggestions, the time frame that I would be looking at due to him moving and the possible price ranges for everything. I can’t speak for everyone’s expectations, but I was very pleased with the entire process. Made me nervous sending over 35 year crossovers to a person that I really didn’t know as well as payment in advance, but I took the chance based on others from Audiokarma and the great input from everyone. I’m more than pleased with everything. Communication, price and performance. Sometimes people only take the time to complain about things they’re not happy with but I had a great experience overall. I would definitely reach out to him in the future and am more than happy to answer any questions anyone may have about my experience. Very happy. Thank you MCM.

Huge shout out to @kwayde !!

A while back I posted about getting surrounds on my Advents done. Had some recommendations to do it myself, but as these were my first ever speaker purchase back in the 70s, I didn't want to take a chance on messing things up. Kwayde (Wade) reached out to me and even though he was about 2 hours north of me, I had a good feeling about working with him. I took my Advents to him and we chatted for nearly an hour. I stopped by today to pick them up. In the end, he did the surrounds, new gaskets, replaced the caps on the crossovers, and had my babies purring like it was 1978 all over again.

Thank you Wade - and if anyone out there is looking for good work at a fair price, look him up. Has some great stories too!

And even more respect to Iqpete11;

I bought the minty TU-717 that matched the above AU-717. I had it in my rack for a couple days, before i realized it was dropping a channel. Im not a scientist just a carpenter, so i dropped it off at my Tech hoping it was something simple and stoopid. When i mentioned it to Iqpete11, and that it proved to be an expensive control board issue, he forwarded payment for the entire repair! Without being asked, he sent nearly the purchase price of the unit... Un Be Leevable!

I think we are all VERY aware that 40+ year old equipment can (and does) work fine one day, and crap out the next. I have no doubt it was operational when packed up for shipping. So I had no expectation of warranty or compensation.

This is not the first time i have experienced such generous behavior on AK. I am very grateful to be part of such a community, especially in times where public behavior is at an all time low. Audio Karma is aptly named, and i will endeavor to keep it good, and pay it forward. Thank You! bob

This doesn't surprise me at all. lqpete is a fine fellow.

I once sold a very functional, fully restored sx-1010. Worked beautifully when I packed it up. Well, buyer reached out, the thing was dead.

It was a hassle for both of us, and funny enough, this was the last of my "monster receivers" I was unloading. All had been restored, but the chance that they'd lay down each time i wanted to enjoy them was just too much.

Things happen, but when dealing with good people, it's usually just a small inconvenience. Bartertown is where I go, nowadays.

I'm surprised the last post on this thread was nearly a year ago. Regardless, bountiful praise sent out to @mbz , who's guidance, and unwavering support in the successful repair of a Yamaha AV amp (a project NOT for the faint of heart), nor for a first time repair attempt, and on top of that originating from a newbie. Patience is something you have in spades.

I've read other repair threads where great advise was dispensed as well. You are truly a gem here in this community.

Thank you.

The people on this site have been so helpful and continue to be so.
I learn something new every day. A couple of the other audio forums can be pretty intimidating for someone just starting out compared to this one.

Yes this site is indispensable as far as the knowledge base goes on not just audio but on other things as well.i joined the site in its infancy with just over 1000 members.Fwiw I'm #1007Belonged to many other audio forums but didn't post much on them but audikarma is my home base audio forum.

Whilst attempting to reboot a musty old pair of forte 2 over the last 2 years, i recieved kind and generous help from so many on the forum, i wont be able to remember them all.

Chiefly, Mboxler and Claudej1 weathered a million stupid questions from a noob without a clue, and were instrumental in saving my experiment from the dustbin of sudio hackery. Thanks to all here who keep the karma here so good!
