Nope, you have the chart of what arm/cart resonance will be. clocking in at 10hz shows the effective mass to be 10gr, with a 20cu cart.
test album with resonate test bands. Yes, it is that simple.

I finally got unlazy enough to track down these speakers. Polk was not generous enough to stamp the model number on the back (seriously who doesn't put their models on their equipment) so I had to search a little while.

For posterity then: the speakers that make the Ortofon 2M red sound pretty nice are the Polk Audio RT35s. Contemporary reviewers mostly said "These sound very good for the price" *cough* yea for-the-price but they also said they were lacking in high end compared to "more expensive speakers" so I think that nails the difference between these sounding really good IMO with this cart whereas my Q Acoustics 3020i speakers sounded admittedly just barely shy of painful with the same turntable and cart.
