Hi all,
I have a pair of Grado HP-1000 drivers in walnut cups. Great, beautiful headphones. I am also using an Accuphase C-200 preamp, which i love, and I use the headphone jack on this to power my headphones. The sound produced is excellent, but it's insane how high I need to crank it. I need to turn the volume up 75% to max just to get it to normal listening levels.
The voltage supply on the C-200 to the headphone amp is only about 4.5V. Also, the Grados are estimated to be between 32 and 40 Ohms.
I would consider selling the Grados if there was another pair of headphones that might be better matched to the headphone jack. Right now, I can't afford to buy a dedicated headphone amp for the Grados as might be suggested.
Any suggestions on a good match for the Accuphase given its output? Something fairly high-end but not in the thousands.
