Hi All,

Decided to join after AK kept showing up on searches.

Hoping to get some help for some reel to reel decks that need work: Akai-1800SD (a sentimental 8-track favorite) Akai-GX635D & a Pioneer RT-909.

thx

Welcome to AK..

You live just a few miles north of me, I'm down by the airport off 281...

Good to see another local here on AK!

Cool. Just hope he's patient. I'm sure my questions are probably ultra-faq.

TX-DOT (Texas Department Obstructing Traffic) is about finished with 410 around there aren't they? Wish I could say the same about 1604 & 281, but that's straying OT.

Welcome to AK!

It is good to know that there is at least two other AK'ers located down here in South Texas. I live in Somerset, just off of 1604 (a.k.a 'The Death Loop')

Yeah we should get a swap meet going or something. ; )

Anyway, thanks everyone for your replies.

I don't know, I heard that there were parts closed last night around Broadway and Nacogdoches...it's going to be at least another year before they get all that mess figured out...1604 and 281 is going to be a huge mess for quite a while....there used to be nothing out there, but now there is a whole new city outside 1604, and San Antonio IS NOT better for it...it's gone from being a nice big town into just another big city...when I bought my hose in 1989 I could hop on my motorcycle and by time I got to 1604 I was out in the country...the temperature would drop several degrees from the lack of urban heating...now? Well, it's all built up until you get out past where you live...

The only swap meet around here of any electronics leaning is the January San Antonio Radio Club swap meet held out in Schertz...since I'm a Ham I've been attending it for over two decades but there are very few audio pieces at any of the Hamfests any more...the best ones in Texas are the twice yearly Hamfests at Belton...too far for me to afford the gas to travel to in my truck, but buddies that go still tell me it's a good swap meet...
