Howdy y'all of AudioKarma, I'm Taylor. I'm from Westminster, colorado. Ive always been an avid retro and vintage audio enthusiast since I was young.
For my current listening pleasure I have a JVC XL-231BK cd player with 8 times oversampling/noise-shaping digital filter and 4th order noise-shaping D/A converter. Technically this unit is one tier below their model with Digital optical out. To my ears it has a very precise instrument presentation and large soundstage. Very sharp and clear vocals and cymbals.
I have the unit currently mated to a generic solid state portable headphone amplifier I bought on Ebay last year. I also recently got a silver plated copper RCA to 3.5MM cables that go between amplifier and the cd player or whatever device I May have.
I also have a Panasonic RS-J3 cassette walkman with rca Jack's out on it's way as well. I bought belts for it and I'll probably give it a good cleaning when it arrives.
For my headphone drivers I have a pair of KZ-ZS5 IEM hybrid quad drivers with silver plated braided 8 core upgrade wires. Bought em a year ago and so far they sound amazing and provide a pleasurable listening experience whether with a solid state amplifier or a Vaccum tube amplifier. I also took the dive into the Pioneer headphones realm and snagged a SE-505 2-Way headset off ebay. Itll require disassembly and the pots for the volume and tone controls to be cleaned. I do know it's a weird dual potentiometer design. Deoxit D5 and a follow up with faderlube should fix hopefully. The headset is in great condition still has the original foam inside earcups. Earcups are not torn. I'd like to eventually recap my SE-505's with mundorfs if possible.
As my last equipment I have a generic portable headphone Vaccum tube triode Amlifier that is very warm. Bought it on Ebay from China. Has a max rating of 500 MW and powers anything between 16 ohms and 400 ohms.
