Greetings from upstate NY

I too tried to build a pair of speakers with no knowledge of what was involved. Ended up with a nice pair of footstools... :)

Welcome to AK.

Thanks for all the hellos! I didn't know about them until just now, I'm still learning how this forum works with notifications and whatnot. It's excellent forum software btw, very full featured with useful tools like conversations etc., probably the best of any I've used.

'Where in upstate?' I'm in Ithaca, where it is snowing like crazy right now.

best,
Ig

I recently have discovered Angry Mom Records but I'm sure I'll be back there a ton. So far I've increased my record collection from 0 to 7. :D

What a rush of nostalgia to pull an old slab of vinyl out of the sleeve...

Former Cortlander here. Ran the radio station at 100.something. Lectured at Ithaca and Cornell and I LOVE the gorges. Ithaca is gorges, as they say. Welcome. I have your speakers, but I'm in Florida. Come on down. It was 82 on Christmas day.

Welcome to the civil audio/video site, for the most part.

Take some long looks at both the "speaker" and "DIY" forums before you jump into your build.

Lot of ideas/plans/info on what to do and not in the above areas. Depending on budget, also be alert to what's out there in the way of types of speakers and the different designs that suits your particular needs.

Half the quest is almost as good as the end result.
