Not to be snarky- but target practice is the first thing I think of.

I've seen SO MANY of those, be defective right out of the box. Scraping platters, irregular speed/warble, and cartridge tracking problems/record damage are the most common failures.

I try hard to get people to NOT buy something like that. Especially, when the basic Audio Technica turntables are very little more money (at least at regular retail price- I have no idea how they came about the units in that ad, to sell them for $6 each- I would REALLY be suspicious that these are all defective returns), and the Audio Technica will basically last forever, by comparison, it won't damage your records... and it will actually sound decent doing it.
