Newer H/K stuff is pretty impressive.
Our house's nice system (as opposed to mine) has a new H/K receiver. It haas high voltage and high current lights on it. Both are lit up, which logically means it's putting out high power, but because they light at even low volumes, and because they didn't used to be lit (only high current was), I'm a bit worried. But the receiver hasn't exploded or fried the speakers (nice Polk's, I think). Apparently that stereo was made of components that cost $300 each-- When it was being built my parents decided on a $300 receiver, $300 speakers, $300 CDP, and the $300 tape player doesn't really matter now. It sounds great, I will have to do a comparison to an older really nice receiver, but H/K does make decent stuff. I am hoping the 3 channel "Pro-Logic" H/K in the attic really did blow a fuse and isn't toast, as from the tests I did with the one good channel show, it also sounds quite decent.
