With the great majority of my fellow McAddicts agreeing with me that what's right is right...............I just added a MINT L-12 cabinet with slant feet for my DeWicked MR-74............man I really pull in stations here in NY now...amazing what slant feet can do for reception!

The wife thinks I am crazy..."what in the world is wrong with the one you had?" Try explaining that slant feet are de rigeur.........(sp)

Any attempt at an explanation will prove unsuccessful. Most wives don't speak Macanese. It's a linguistics phenomenon that we're still trying to understand. Men understand Macanese just fine but the woman brain seems almost completely incapable of comprehending even the most elementary expressions of Macanese.

So just remember one thing, when it comes to wives and Mac purchases... "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to get permission".

My wife doesn't fit that mold. She says she *wants* me to collect some more Mc gear. I'm not about to abuse that grace, so I consider potential future gear purchases VERY carefully! :-)

My wife is very fluent in Macanese. She loves the sound and appearance of the new gear. She liked the old stuff too, but immediately recognized the improvement with the current product. She is even considering allowing some room treatments on the walls.

Very cool stuff; I think I'll take down the pillows I have nailed to my walls...
:lmao:
Long time ago when I started experimenting with treatments and had no funds for the real stuff, I actually did have home made stuffed pillows that a lady friend made for me. Triangular for the ceiling corners and stuffed tubes that ran up the corners from floor to ceiling. They actually did make a difference in the sound but the looked rediculous. :screwy:
The ASC stuff cost me an arm and a leg later on but made a much bigger difference. :thmbsp: I regret giving up my old dedicated room and selling off my treatments. :tears:

Check out some wife-friendly products ASC got going on these days. :thmbsp:

You can also send them a picture which they can use for the image. From the ASC site:

Copyright laws prohibit ASC from duplicating commercial artwork or photography without the written consent of the artist.

I wonder if McIntosh would give the ok to use their images for the picture room treatments. Imagine having two 24"x36" MC501 meters with a big McIntosh globe as room treatments on the front wall.

Victor

That's a great idea Vic. :thmbsp: I am actually doing a full out assault on room treatments from ASC once again when I move back into my house. Stay tuned...

Jess,

I could not have expressed it any better.......!

Just showed my wife this last night. She didnt find it all that humourous :smoke:

Just ordered my Maggie 3.6's yesterday, and we were supposed to "consult further" but I put into practice your last quote, and today? actually she is okay with it. So yes, you never really get permission, just get it and deal with the forgiveness part or "equalizing of toys spending" later...:thmbsp:

Congrads on your new Maggies Exracer! The 3.6's are excellent speakers. Give them lots of breathing room, especially from the back and watch them spring to life. Let us know how they work out for you. :thmbsp:

Big reno Serge?
Yes, been stuck in an apartment for the past 2 months while the house is getting remodeled. I think there is light at the end of the tunnel now.

Tell her it's just a joke and I certainly will adimit that without my wife I wouldn't have half what I've got. Wives... they're the best, including yours my freind.

The truth is my wife loves Mac as well. She can, and would be happy to explain what imaging and soundstage means. And if it ain't in your system, she can tell you (she's a Maggie girl). She may not be able to tell you how to get it, but she can tell you whether it's there or not. She loves the way Mac gear looks and can even apprectiate the overall quality sound she hears from my system.

Glad to hear about your very wise decision in speakers. I want a full and complete description of every single thought and impression you have from the minute you install them through your entire initial listening experience.

Are these your first Maggies?

Wife-funny. She complains about the stereo/hifi, and the money that goes into it, yet brags about it to her friends when I am not listening...:scratch2: just an excuse to get more shoes I guess...

Yes first Maggies, actually never even heard the 3.6's but have heard the 1.6's and if the 3.6's are bigger in the bass, and even more transparent in the mids than the 1.6's (which is what I have heard from many) then I am in for a treat.

I hear you my friend ! I just moved into my new sound room, oh- I mean my new house, and have been in a hotel for 3 weeks... and the renovations are just starting for me...

pics of new room/system to come...

Ok, you have 250 sq ft, my room is 238sq ft. I've had great success with the Martin Logan SL3's that sounded superb in that room as well as a bigger one, granted they had to be slightly more than 1/3 the way out into the room but man did they sound great. :music: Good luck with your renovations and happy listening when it's all said and done. :thmbsp:
