hot day mowed the grass
then the mower ran out of gas
had to go get more

(don't know if that's right)

Nice start @parman! (1 - 1 - 3 = 5)...used the @ symbol
Haiku is five, seven, five (2 - 1 - 1 - 2 - 1 = 7)
Your second has eight (1 - 2 - 1 - 1 = 5)

Nice. Is it still a haiku with that many lines?? I'm ignorant on the haiku rules other than 5/7/5

@onwardjames According to another poster in this thread that 5-7-5-7-7 pattern is called a Tanka. That was a new one for me . . .

The 5 line poem is called a Tanka. The breakdown is 5-7-5-7-7. @Quadman2 (Ted) turned me on to this form. From what I read it has no punctuation at the end of the sentences and is supposed to flow as one sentence. merlynski beat me to the post.
