SPRING

Furious times of
nest building, and joyous cries
fill warm skies of blue.
DNU

We have a very high deck with a patio underneath it. For the past couple years, a pair of Pheobes and two pairs of Wrens have nested under the deck, and all their clutches left the nest a few days ago. There were young birds EVERYWHERE... so beautiful to see. The phoebes are so much fun... such social birds. The pair follows me all around the lawn when I mow or walk the dogs. The wrens must be incredibly prolific; when they leave the nest, it's like a CLOUD of birds.

I'm a winter guy, and typically don't like spring much. Around here, spring means a LOT of mud, a lot of biting bugs, and the impossible task of trying to keep up with mowing in the few windows when the ground isn't too soggy to get bogged down in or it isn't pouring.

Still... I do love seeing all the birds and wildlife. :)
