I actually have used every one of the cleaners mentioned in this thread and more...the AI 3-step is one of the very best I have seen, it, too, is my personal favorite.....
Second favorite would be the combination of the Disc Doctor's Miracle Record Cleaner, followed by RRL (now MoFi) Super Deep Cleaner, followed by the Record Wash....followed by purified water rinse...
I found it imperative to use the ultrapure water rinse with the LAST record machine cleaner and the L'art du Son....in fact sometimes it took two times to get the LAST wash completely off the record....
I also have both the Disc Doctor's and the MoFi brushes and I like the MoFi ones better, they're a little larger and easier for my big ole hands to grip...
I also have used the Nitty Gritty machines....I own the VPI 16.5, once you use the VPI it's hard to go back to something that doesn't have a platter to support the LP when you are washing...once you own a machine you will get to the point to where you ask yourself how you ever got along without it and feel pity for those who don't!
Also, get yourself some "MicroTex" brand microfiber towels....these puppies will not scratch the vinyl like some microfibers I have seen....got a package of eight for under ten bucks at "Big Lots"
FWIW, DiscDoctor and AI's machine and manual instructions have instructions on how to properly clean records without using a machine....I did it the Disc Doctor way until I got the VPI and the way he describes and the way AI describes doing it by hand is the only way to go...at least in that which I have seen in my over 45 years of playing with vinyl...
