Happy 248th Navy

Nothing. Nothing comes close to a 10-button Pea Coat for style and warmth. Especially if you have had the pleasure of owning one from WWII, but all the real ones are pretty nice.

Never liked the 8-button or lighter-weight versions.

The new ones from Schott aren't bad. Still made from 32 oz. Melton wool.

FWIW - They are double-breasted so you can button them away from the wind if you have to go aloft and reef some sails...

I have always Honored our Military, and the older I've become, the stronger that Honor has grown. Dad was Navy during Korea. Was always disappointed in all my playing with Army Men, that there was never a set for the Navy. I was a kid, what did I know? Late father in law served on the Boxer. Always bragged how he had every key to every lock and door on that ship.

Fwiw, do you remember the Z-grams?

Before my time by a decade, bit I know of them, all the old timers would sit around the mast spinning yarns about them.
I remember them being issued when I was Army, he really seemed to care abt welfare & morale.
I also recall horror stories about both after his time.
