Are you guys saying that this guy simply held the amplifier over a scanner?

I was thinking that you were saying that he scanned a photo.Now looking at the auction photo,I can see that the knobs are clear because they are in the focal plane of the scanner(ie in contact with the glass),and all of the parts outside of the focal plane are out of focus.

I don't think he held the unit over the scanner, I think he put the unit ON the scanner and scanned it just like you would scan a photo!
