SYMPTOMS DESCRIPTION Revised/Refined:
At Power On:
TESTING:
Just did a thorough transistor knock check, for the Left channel Main Amp board. I also hit most of the other components on the board and my recent trace/wire repair as well. I could not detect any noise reaction.
These tests were done with speakers plugged in and listening by ear;
PROBABLY UNRELATED?:
This morning I went to power on the amp through the isolation transformer that I have been using and the fuse blew (on the isolation transformer itself). I mention it bc Steve talked about flaky current problems above--don't know if this falls into that category. The isolation transformer is fairly recent purchase and kind of cheap, but it was working for the past couple of weeks of testing this device until now.
I moved the amp to DIM Bulb outlet for the remainder of the tests this morning, and everything seemed normal (little bright at first, then dim), nothing concerning.
At Power On:
- L speaker channel: poppy static noise, harsh at first, starts to fade away 5 seconds in, gone by 13 - 15 seconds; It is worse when starting the amp cold, after sitting off for a while; actual sound input comes in at around 3 seconds and sounds normal;
- R speaker: sound delayed by about 9 seconds; input sound starts later than L channel, but no static noise sounds normal;
- Also after Power off, L channel goes silent, than plays input sound briefly again.
