Has this Son of Ampzilla been restored?

I have been unable to date this amp, and from what I read they stopped making this style in the 80’s.

The Panasonic FM caps in this guy were not produced till the 2000’s.

So, is the amp restored, or was it built in the 2000’s?

Thanks for any insight.

Powered up on dim bulb and it passed. Powered up on full mains and checked DC at speakers. All good.

Connected speakers and a preamp and it works perfectly.

Trying to find out where the owner got this from. Would be interesting to find out who restored it. Very nice job I will say.

Also, the TO-220 transistors are On-Semi. From what I can find they started branding the MJE in 1999.

This came from a guy named Ken in Reno. I’d be curious to see what he has to say about it.

There was a guy named Kim in Reno, he worked with Mike Bettinger of GASWORKS fame. He passed away a few years ago.

Looks like it's been totally rebuilt and the VI limiters have been eliminated also.

More than that, Craig. Looks like the caps in the differential amps have been removed too. Maybe the scratched in mods on the schematic has been done by Gasworks?

That could be, I have yet to try those mods, maybe on my next SoA. Not sure where the mods originated.
