"Hate"

@HarmanKardon I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I agree with you man. :)

The thing is folks sometimes have a hard time holding back. I look at it as part of the human condition.

While I don’t agree with a lot of things. I also try to understand why someone hates something. Is there a reason? Maybe they had a bad experience, maybe it brings up emotional trauma they buried years ago.

It’s hard to say. But know that you’re kindness is truly appreciated. Well I appreciate it.
 
OK, "hate" is a pretty strong word and can evoke some pretty negative thoughts. I much prefer a term from my youth that was used in the Andy Devine show ("plunk your magic twanger, froggy") when he wanted to invoke his puppet sidekick.

Willie: Right. So, so I set the trap, right? A-a-a-a-and I wanna see if the trap was gonna work,right? So I got the Camembert in there.

Frankie: Right.

Willie: But every time I went to taste the cheese, the thing came down right on my tongue! …I’m tellin’ ya — after forty, fifty times, I – I – I couldn’t even feel the cheese, much less taste it. I hate when THAT happens, I’ll tell ya that.

Frankie: Boy, you know what I hate? I hate– I got a gross o’ them, uh–?

Willie: Razor blades?

Frankie: No.

Willie: Fish hooks?

Frankie: No.

Willie: Ah?

Frankie: Thumb tacks.

Willie: Ah! Yeah.

Frankie: Right?

Willie: Yeah.

Frankie: So I bring ’em home, you know, and I sprinkle ’em all out over the floor, you know?

Willie: Points up?

Frankie: Right.

Willie: Uh huh.

Frankie: Then I strip down to the nude and I just ROLL back and forth across the room, ya know?Stickin’ in all over my body. Then I jump in a hot tub and just soak.

Willie: Mm hmm.

I had 64 occurrences of usage of the word "hate" but some were just where the word was in the thread title. For 15 years of AK membership, not too shabby.
 
I've got 93 uses...from over 20k posts. I'm lamenting some misfortune or odd occurrence. Let's leave the word alone and let people live their lives as they want.
 
I'm going to purposely TROLL this thread with anagrams of HATE. Everyone knows about HEAT. The others I did not know:

EATH
HAET
THAE
 
Chris, glad you started this thread! :thumbsup: There is a lawyer commercial I can't stand! He's so arrogant! I just want to shove a pie in his face! Caught him using actors because the following commercial had the same lady! Whenever his commercials come on, I turn the channel! So sick of hearing "One call, that's all"!

Hey man, I'm there w/ ya. Only thing I like about Paris is "the southern cemetery", the one @ Montparnasse. And brother, that is all I like in Paris. Well, ok, that and a certain Italian restaurant in the Sèvres commune. But that's it. Hate (yes, used that word @ this thread) both airports, though @ least you can reach De Gaulle via the TGV... that's convenient, but once inside the joint... look out. Only bigger (international) airports I've experienced are Heathrow and the one in Frankfurt, Deutschland. Effin' nightmares, all three of 'em... these three make LAX seem relaxed and orderly.

So according to the list I used it six times in the last three years, and zero times in the last 14 months.

However, God knows that I am not perfect! ;)
