HBO Cancels Vinyl

It had some things going for it but it had a lot of things not so good also. They had a great idea and some awesome talent, but I think the writing left a lot to be desired. I felt like it was being written by someone who didn't have a lot of experience in solid well put together story lines. It was kind of all over the map.

This isn't surprising in light of the HBO housecleaning that happened last month.

Always read the press release as the exact opposite of what they really mean -

"We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project."

I'm not surprised this was cancelled. This week I watched 4 episodes of this show on DVD and it's not very good. The characters aren't very likable and there isn't much to the plot to make me want to watch more episodes.

I wonder if all the gear will go back to Mark @ Sounds Classic? He even posted a "RIP" on his website.

The first episode was a meandering mess, so much so that I had to split it into two viewing sessions to get through it. I never went back.
Exactly. I powered through the first episode hoping that by the end it would get better but it didn't. I also felt like a needed a shower and some penicillin after watching it.

I don't think the show has been canceled; I believe the producers are just changing the title to WARPED and SCRATCHY.

Bottom line: not many people were watching it. Including me. I bailed after about 4 episodes. Sure had lots of buzz, though. Other than GoT, HBO is in need of some hits, rather than critical faves (Silicon Valley).

Westworld
is the next big move for them albeit nearly a year late when it finally debuts.

I tried.

After every episode, I just felt as if I had wasted an hour that I could've used doing something else.
