headphone upgrade

So I had a thought. was looking on e-bay and found a bunch of Pioneer se-205 and 305 for cheap. Then I found that I could also buy the drivers from a set of Sony WH-1000XM4 for around $10 per side. so $20ish plus shipping.

Is this a dumb idea? Is it even doable? The Pioneer's have 45mm drivers and the Sony's have a 40mm. I'm not looking to make them Bluetooth or anything. Just use the drivers and keep them as wired only. Again like I said just had the thought. Could be an interesting project.

Has anyone ever attempted anything like this before?

Hello! So in theory this can work, just make sure the depth of the new drivers will also realtively match the pioneer ones.
