Headshell Insanity - It's a plot by drunken idiots

Let me see if I have this straight...

If the headshell is facing away from you, the connection to the tonearm (H4 Bayonet) is nearer to your body and the headshell is upside down (the stylus tip is facing up), the pin configuration is like this:
  • Lower Left: Red Lead (right signal)
  • Upper Left: Green Lead (right ground)
  • Lower Right: White Lead (left signal)
  • Upper Right: Blue Lead (left ground)
Then for connecting the headshell leads...
  • The posts on the headshell are 1 mm in diameter
  • The posts on the cartridge are 1.2 mm in diameter
Make sure to connect the correctly sized coupling to the same size post!​

(If correct, this is the craziest thing I've ever heard. o_O)​

Is the above headshell configuration correct?

I'm having a hard time doing the spacial relations in my head. These are all the same, right? It seems like the headshell connections in the images are reversed.

Know anything about the pins? I'm struggling to get them to connect. I blew up my last set, maybe because of pin size and the difficulty getting them off the headshell. I suspect I had the wrong leads (1 mm) going to the wrong pins (1.2 mm). Wires can't control signal direction, can they? You have to have a diode for that, right? Why would paired pins be different sizes?

It helps that cartridges are done however the manf wants and the cartridge connections can even be different in one company's line.

Different size pins different size clips and connections in different places. Only the standard headshell has connections in the same place.

Ignore that Australian site. Their electrons go the wrong way. ;)

The other images look correct. If the cartridge doesn't have colour coded pins they will be marked L & R, + & - (minus being ground).

Pins and wire connectors can vary in size so you might need to gently squeeze or pry open. Small needle nose pliers and very small screwdrivers plus a steady hand will come in very helpful.
