I have been gifted the above table and have never owned one before. I already have a thread about the reconditioning I have done so far.
It came without a counterweight or headshell. The counterweight looks possible to find, but I am lost when it comes to finding a suitable headshell and cartridge.
My needs are to find something that will be a good starting place for a household that isn't used to owning, using or caring for vinyl. It also won't be my "personal use" table.
The rest of the system is a Rotel RC1572mkII w/RB1552 and Bowers & Wilkins 805D3's and DB3D sub, it is very transparent and I would like something that will complement the system, but also not be too technical or fragile.
The RC1572 has an integrated phono circuit suitable for moving magnet cartridges, so until the household is trained, I think it best to start there. It doesn't feel smart to dive straight into an external MC preamp with a DL103 for example. I would like to get there one day, just not until the table is definitely functioning, because although I have tested it mechanically, I am still yet to hear it play, and I need to know the humans can deal with it appropriately before I make that kind of investment.
Can you suggest a combination of Headshell and cartridge for the above scenario please!
