You had a ground loop with both grounds hooked up and it only took us a few posts for you to find the time to get inside again and poke around. We are tough taskmasters at time, not knowing the time available for those doing the work. But you got that cover off, looked over the issue and got the unit hooked up correctly for use with the new receiver. Enjoy!!
It doesn’t go away altogether; but it definitely diminishes. Maybe I just need to take the bloody thing in to be looked at.could be induced magnetic field, hard to say but if moving things apart fixes it, move them apart.
Off-topic, but I just realized that we both have Dynaco A25s and Ortofon Cartridges. I have an Ortofon VMS 3E on my TD 145 and an Ortofon F15E on my Sanyo. Both are from the VMS series and sound great with the Dynacos.Plus - it definitely wasn’t there when I “fixed” it at lunch.
Both channels. And, yes - I love the sound of the Dynacos!Off-topic, but I just realized that we both have Dynaco A25s and Ortofon Cartridges. I have an Ortofon VMS 3E on my TD 145 and an Ortofon F15E on my Sanyo. Both are from the VMS series and sound great with the Dynacos.
Is the hum in both channels or just the right?
Wasn’t that super-common back in the heyday of component systems? Mine is a good 8 inches away from the transformer too.Never put a turntable with a cartridge on top of a unit with a big transformer. Just asking for hum.
I just won’t breathe on it...That's good, hopefully it won't start humming again.
May be some old components in the receiver. Don't think its a transformer problem. More a cap issue.
