Heed Obelisk SI MKIII

Longtime lurker checking in as when I was researching integrateds—specifically the Obelisk—there wasn't a whole lot of everyman reviews so I figured I'd start this thread

Took delivery of the Heed Obelisk SI III on Friday. It's replacing my tired Tandberg TR-2025 and running with a Micro Seiki MB-14 with a Nagaoka MP-110 (actually have a JNP-200 stylus on the way) through the only real hi-fi speakers I've ever had, my trusty pair of Celestion SL6S (looking to upgrade these soon, the upper midrange just isnt clear enough for my folk/ solo acoustic guitar obsessions).

Obviously she has to burn in but really enjoying this piece quite a lot. The Celestions needed more power and the Heed phono card is super sweet. The bulk of my home listening these days is jazz and ambient and the low end is really popping with the Heed.

After 20 years of buying secondhand and getting handmedowns this was my first piece of brand new gear. The many many late nights of research here and abroad on the internet paid off, the Heed is a keeper.

Now back to Elvin Jones' Live at the Lighthouse.

Which did you have and what speakers did you like with them?

Oh, I had the Elixir and the Oblelisk. The Oblelisk was refined but a bit soft and noisy for me so I kept the Elixir. I used them with everything from KEF LS50’s and Spendor A6R’s to Wharfedale Denton 80th’s and B&W 685’s...and a few more that I can’t remember. I really liked the sound of the Obelisk and wished that the phono board had been quieter.
