Yes, great resources, in fact the guy that runs tapeheads worked for Pacific Stereo, is way knowledgeable, and a hella great guy as well.

Welcome Jay. I can tell you that receiver is a good unit, house brand of Pacific Stereo and well regarded. I've worked on many of them in that series. From your description of the non working channel I'd say it's a good chance it needs cleaning of switches and controls to restore function, quite common. With volume low try operating selector, function and tape monitor switches multiple times, anything in the signal path, dropped channel might return, probable even. If not start a thread with Concept 5.5 in the title, channel dropping, and start the trouble shooting process. Assuming the receiver is part of a system your dad purchased at the time what are the other components, especially the speakers.

Hello Spicer, Thanks for the reply. I have the matching Concept CE-1 CE-2 speakers but their a bit Frankensteined. I need to replace the passive radiators on the back as they were completely missing when I inherited they. The original woofer was replaced with a Godfather 10" from M&M electronics by my father. Then one of the ribbon tweeters failed so I replaced them both to keep them matching but that is all I have from the Concept Line unfortunately.
As far as just other stereo stuff I inherited a set of Sansui sp-1500, Realistic wide range EQ, kenwood tuner KT-45, JVC TD-w215 Tapedeck, Technics SL - PD667 CD player and a Pioneer PL-520 record player with Pickering v-15 cartridge and dat2 stylus.

So after replying yesterday I went on online and found these beauties not mint condition but pretty close. The foam surrounds have been replaced on both the passive and active woofers. Was playing them last night at first it was a bit underwhelming and then I dialed in the crossovers on each speaker and dear Lord having a surround sound system with a bunch of ESS AMT tweeters is heavenly. The 3D imaging is scary accurate when sitting in the sweet spot The same guy I bought them from has a matching concept 6.5 that he let me demo the CE-2 speakers on before buying. The amplifier already been gone through serviced and cleaned up. He is asking a bit much at $600 but I'm seriously considering it as 5.5 receiver i have proving more difficult than I thought to fix. Looks like someone had already been in it before so now it's more of reversing the previous jerry-rigging rather than just replacement parts and fixing.

Very good. And, six hundred dollars is a bit much for a 6.5, one up in the line. Have you investigated the problem with the 5.5? For six hundred dollars I think I'd be having thoughts of giving the 5.5 any attention it needs right there on the kitchen table.
