Hello from Florida

welcome fellow floridian!!! where abouts? im in west palm, we got a local old stereo club here, were always looking for new members!!!

Hello,
I figure I should start my own thread to introduce myself but bum off another thread. I've been a long time lurker of AK and find it a wonderful resource for opinions and facts on vintage gear. Time to make this a two way conversion!

I've been planning on purchasing a Pioneer SX-1250 and having it restored. I wanted to know the alternatives to restoring it through eBay (although those guys seem to know their stuff, they do charge quite a bit) or a local stereo repair that probably doesn't know anything about this receiver.

I've heard that forum member EchoWars is pretty good at restoring this gear. I'm learning the forum system and I see there is a new way to post classifieds and service in a forum called Bartertown. Basically I'd like a knowledgeable AK'er to give me a quote for restoring a SX-1250. I realize there is a back log for some of the more popular repair folks. Is it necessary to pair a membership fee to get access to the classifieds? If I'm heading down the wrong avenue feel free to point me on the right path.

Thanks for your replies!

Yes, there's a $25 per year subscription, in order to access Barter Town, and the rest of the subscriber-only section. It's worth it, IMHO!

In any case- welcome to the fray! And Echowars is very talented. Him, Terry DeWickt, merrylander and a few others are real treasures around here.

Regards,
Gordon.
