Hi , I'm from Kolkata India,
A DIY'er from 1970 when I was in London. Started with a Sinclair stereo 70 amplifier Kit, DIY speakers designed by Peter Baxandall of tone control fame, DIY BD1 turntable by Connoisseur. Its been a long journey having built Transmission line speakers with KEF units and a Linsley Hood 75 watt amplifier. All designs from Wireless World. And a Tripath digital amp in the early 2000's.
Then for 40 odd years with B&W DM17 speakers and a Quad 405/II / Hafler DH110 preamp.and a Thorens TD160 Super / AT 1100 arm/ Grado cartridge and various CD players.
Finally upgraded in 2019 with a pair of used 805s' ( 2005 version) and recently bought a 1975 Luxman M2000. The turntable still works perfectly. Streaming with a rasberry Pi and Allo Boss Dac. I am probably at the end of my journey ( famous last words). I feel so happy with the sound. I just need a good preamp.

Thanks to all of you for welcoming me. Most of my gear is British except for the Luxman, which really opened up the sound quality.

Absolutely! I love classical Indian music also (Ravi Shankar & his contemporaries). My cats kind of dig it too, especially with the volume at concert levels.:bigok:

Sorry I totally forgot about my Dynaco ST70 completely rebuilt while in isolation during lockdown. So the Grado, Hafler pre and Dynaco are US and the turntable Swiss, Arm is a Japanese AT 1100 and so is the Luxman. So most of the British kit is from the past.

Hi, I see you are from Hertfordshire and a few years younger than me. I studied at Elstree for my A levels and lived in Watford for a few months in the late 60's. So you might recognise some of the gear I started with. Thanks for the welcome. I'm trying to navigate a bit and not lurk.
 
Hello from the UK Vivek, I see you have discovered the magic of 70's Luxman, if you can find one, their C-12, and 5C50 preamps are great, or their CL32, CL34 if you prefer tube preamps.

Thanks. My friend in the US is on the lookout ,so I'll add them to the list. My heart is set on a Audio Research pre but depends on what turns up in decent condition/price. I'm in no hurry. Currently using a Schiit Valhalla as a pre/buffer which sounds much better than a passive.
