I searched the web for troubleshooting on my AKAI AP-D33, it seems to suffer from the same problem that a lot of direct-drive TT´s have. It is now replaced with a new TT, and maybe I´ll try to resolve the problem later, it´s a good TT, so I hate to throw it away.

Welcome aboard!!....Are you familiar with Sinus speakers? Are they Norwegian also? I have a pair of "Arena" brand ",Danish speaker...inside are Sinus drivers...an 8" Woofer and 1 1/2" tweeter, Awesome sound with my vintage 60's Telefunken stereo tube receiver!!
