Welcome aboard. I did the same thing three years ago, i.e., retired and resumed a long-dormant interest in audio that went back to my undergraduate university days in the early 60s.
There has been a learning curve -- and my garage is filled with thrift store/yard sale junk -- but no regrets. I'm having fun -- and I wish you the same.
