Help connecting multiple decks

The 3 switches in the upper row would select which of the three decks to receive the signal from your receiver. Normally that would be the source you selected with your input selector on your receiver radio, phone, cd or Aux (whatever they call it on your receiver) The selected source, would be sent to the amplifier section in your receiver, as well at it will be sent to the jacks - on your receiver - called "Rec out" ( or tape out)
The upper switches can also choose between the signal from your receiver - or the signal on the dubbing bus.
The lower row, selects which tapedecks signal would be send to either your receivers Tape in (tape playback) or to the dubbing bus.
By combination, you can copy between 3 decks -
Last switch determines if the signal to your receiver (What you would hear, when the Tape monitor button on your receiver is pressed) is from deck 1, 2 or 3 - or the signal on the dubbing bus

If you have a second tape monitor or an adapter loop on your receiver, then that would be a good place to insert the RG1. These loops are usually downstream from the Tape 1 Monitor loop. When you have the Tape 2 Mon 2 or Adapter loop ON, then all sources will go through the RG1.
If you don't have a second tape monitor or adapter loop, I think you can connect the tape monitor on your receiver to the RG1 IN/OUT and your tape selector box to the tape monitor on the RG1. When you want a tape deck to play through the RG1, set the tape monitor switch on the RG1 to ON. For all other sources including phono and tuner, set the tape monitor switch on the RG1 to OFF.

just out of curiosty - what receiver do you have ???
I have two Realistic (Radio Shack) Tape Control Centers. I used "Y" adapters to tie the receiver I/O together to my receiver Tape 1. This allows for recording to or from any combination of my five recording devices.

My next project is to make a control center for 8 decks using the Realistic as a guide.

I won one the Realistic Tape Control Center CAT 42-2115 $15.00 on Epay from the link you posted.... It looks like it hooks up just like the one you have. It will be nice not to have to unplug every time I want to use a different tape recorder. I wanted a DBX400XG but they are too expensive right now. I hope this Rat Shack is quiet when they are all hooked up:scratch2: hey $15.00 for a experiment. Have you hooked up yours yet?

I am looking for the realistic 42-2115 Tape Control center owners manual.
Mine has knobs that turn not levers. The back looks like it connects like the one listed here.
I think it works the same way...just with 1 knob per deck instead of two switches...hifiengine.com has the one for the switches.

I purchased this one for $15.00.(Thanks John) I found the 42-2105 on the radio Shack site but not the 42-2115. I finally found my box of old RCA connectors so I can hook 3 decks up to it. Is your unit working OK?
