Update: Got the TF600s (+ a sub). I'm very happy with them but not quite as blown away as I hoped. Which is to say: I still preffer the sound of my Polk Monitor 10bs, specially the clarity in the high frequencies. I suppose no amount of engeenering can get around the cheap tweeters on the Time Frames, but positioning helps a lot! Also the TF600s can really fill up the room! and sound pretty good wherever you are, whereas the Polks have a very definite sweet spot... so the 600s are perfect for my studio where I tend to move around quite a bit. @onwardjames you mentioned replacing the tweeters, right? I might have to look into that... you know of any pgrade?

I would suggest getting the TF-700 speakers entirely. I have 3 pairs now and I haven't heard ANY speakers under $1300 that can touch them.

Wish I had seen this thread earlier, if all in the same condition then the Kappas win easily, I would want some good clean power to drive them. Not one of Infinitys notoriously hard to drive designs being 6ohm but I've found their better speakers respond to better power.

Not only have I heard the TF-600's but I have repaired them as well. I was not impressed with the sound and they definitely seemed cheaply made compared to the TF-700's. The TF-600's don't have the uncolored sound of the TF-700's and they don't have the bass extension that the TF-700's, TF-1000's and TF-2000's have.

I was using a Hafler 500 with mine (L100t3's). Maybe the MOSFET circuit tamed the highs a bit. With an Emotiva XPA-2 I didn't care for them as much...but it was more than just the highs that were disagreeable for me.

They just have a hard, glaring mid rangey sound to me. Some people really like them for Rock Music. I heard plenty of them because I had to repair them.

Hmm. I didn't think the mid range was over cooked in mine. As a matter of fact...and you probably already know this...they changed the crossover from the t to the t3 to improve its voicing . Also, the mid driver is the 104H, which was also used in the JBL L250Ti. I had L250's which use the LE5 mid range which I didn't care for, so I pulled them and put 104H's in them. They definitely weren't over cooked in the mids...perhaps a bit too laid back for me, actually.

I had the L100T's and did the T3 crossover mod. I never could enjoy for more than 2 songs.

Superb bass, though.

To be fair, the speakers were on the bench just a foot away from me, so maybe near field they sound worse. 104H sounds familiar, and I know I replaced midranges. This was at Fretter and our customers were a bunch of yabbos who abused their speakers.
