Help me pick a bourbon?

Maybe, after this, I'll have a new bourbon to post about in the "Favorite Bourbon" thread?

I typically have Makers Mark, Knob Creek and Woodford's Reserve on-hand.

I'm out of Makers Mark.

Before I pick up a new bottle, is there anything else that may expand my horizons in the same general price range (under $30)?

These are what I have my eye on (750mL bottles):
* Buffalo Trace $25
* Elijah Craig 12 year $28
* Eagle Rare Single Barrel $27
* Evan Williams Single Barrel $27
* Four Roses Small Batch $26
* Bulliet Bourbon Frontier Whiskey $28

Think I should take any of those for a spin, or just stick with a new bottle of Makers Mark?

I'll keep an eye out for the Hudson Bay, but a quick check of the New Hampshire liquor store website doesn't show it in stock. It may be something hard for me to find up here in the pine trees. Thanks for the recommendation though - maybe I'll stumble on it somewhere.
 
Of the list you provided, it's Four Roses for me, and it's not even close. Based on your list of bottles usually on hand, you'd also enjoy Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig 12 Year.
 
Awesome, thanks Cyrial. I am intrigued by the Four Roses because I keep seeing it mentioned in the Favorite Bourbon thread.

Would you still pick it over the Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig?

PS - added those two to my top level post to keep them on "the list"!

On your list, I'd opt for one of the following - Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Evan Williams SB, and Eagle Rare. I'd definitely remove the Dickel from consideration. The Buffalo Trace and Four Roses are a bit leaner and more elegant, while the Evan Williams and Eagle Rare are a bit richer/fuller. Personally, I tend to opt for the leaner, more elegant style for sipping.
 
Personally I prefer this, but it is a little pricey:

I'm in NYC, so Four Roses SB at $26 a bottle is the best deal in the world to me. That runs north of $40 in my neighborhood. You just can't go wrong with that bottle.
 
I went with the Four Roses this time. Will sample it a bit later today. :D

So I took Dickle off the list.

Added Bulliet.

Didn't add Blantons, Bookers or JD Select as they are over the $30 mark in my area.

I'm sipping my second glass of Four Roses now.
I think this is very good; very good indeed.

I will put it to a taste test vs the Knob and Woodfords soon.

Fun stuff!
 
You might find Bulleit is over $30, I missed that part of your criteria. But not by much IIRC. This is the only reason I don't have any in my liquor cabinet.
 
Oh yea, Bulleit all day. Both the bourbon and the rye. Bulleit is the bottle most often in my cabinet, but I find the price keeps rising.
 
Bulleit Bourbon is distilled by Four Roses Distillery using Bulleit's high-rye mashbill and proprietary yeast. Good stuff, but only for those who appreciate a high-rye mashbill (spicy) Bourbon.
 
I've drunk most all of the ones mentioned in this thread. My favorite is Knob Creek. Don't just take my word, because Knob Creek was named best overall bourbon at the 2015 San Francisco spirits competition.
 
Of the ones on your list, Four Roses. If you can spend a little more, Jack Daniels Single Barrel. And for just a bit more than the JD, Booker's, which happens to be my go to bourbon. A bit strong in alcohol content, but goes down smooth.
