Help me with speaker selection

I second the ADS L1530's. I have a local buddy who has a set and they are truly amazing speakers. Wish I could find a decent pair for that price. Sorry to hear about the the time wasted due to the seller being shady. Why can't people just be considerate enough to post accurate details/photos of what they are selling...especially when they are asking/expecting a large amount of cash for the item?

Well, here is my second attempt, different speaker:

The seller says he will wait until Saturday for me to pick them up. They don't look in nearly as bad a shape as the Heath AS-101s I was looking at for $800 (those are still listed on Craigslist for $1,000). If I can buy them, I will limit myself to rebuilding the crossovers and refinish the cabinets, and see how they sound...

The ad has been removed by seller, so hopefully the seller is holding them for you at a good price. I have no experience with Soundcraftsmen speakers, so can't comment on quality or value. Do they look like these?

If those don't work out, I hope you are keeping an eye on Bartertown. Of course we're in flyover country so there aren't that many close by. You could post a WTB and state your area/radius.

That's exactly what they are. He agreed to take the ad down, since I committed to driving 4 hours round trip Saturday morning to pick them up. I'm paying $200, which I believe is reasonable.
I check out bartertown regularly. Unfortunately, if you aren't on the east or west coast (like me) pickings are slim.
I wish the titles included the state the seller is in - it would make it easier to see whether comething posted is reachable.

I see you are looking for higher efficiency speakers for tube amps. One of the examples I sent you - the CV D9 - is probably not going to work. Even though its sensitivity is fairly good, it's more of a high powered party speaker which is not what most SET owners are going for.
