Help with ADS L980 speakers

Hello everyone, this is my first post here, and I need some help. I inherited two pairs of speakers from my dad, one of the two being ADS L980's. Surprisingly, I have found little information about these speakers on the web - just a brochure, but no owner's manual or even the years in which they were produced. First, a practical question. In the back, below the fuses, there is a switch; what setting does that control? I've tried them with a Sony receiver, with maybe 90w, and could not tell what if any difference is made by that setting. However, that was with the speakers stacked one on top of the other, in the middle of my cluttered, acoustically unfriendly basement. I did like the sound from a near-field distance, thought it was nice on the ears.

Second question, any problems running these ADS speakers with a Krell KRS-100 (Mk. 2) power amp from the 1980s? I'll soon need to swap a pair into my playback system, my main speakers currently down for woofer replacement. I did find out the power limit of 300w on the ADS (sounds like a lot!).

The switch is a biamp switch to allow separate amplifiers to be used for woofers and mid/tweeters. With a single amp, the switch should be switched to the right and the right set of speaker connection used to get a full range sound.
 
Dennis, thanks, but the bi-amp switch is the one above the fuse box, and there are instructions there as to how to use it. I'm referring to the one that's below the fuses. I just don't see any label on it, or in the vicinity.
 
OK, here's a view of the rear. The small switch above the fuses is the bi-amp setting. Below the fuse box, partially hidden behind the pair of terminals on the left, is the larger switch.

That makes sense. I just need to find out which direction is off, and which is -1.5dB. Or, set them up in a quiet(er) environment, and find out by ear. Thank you!
 
Is that a series II thing, I never noticed another button...

btw don’t worry about too much power, it’s about volume level...
 
Instructions say if you're bi-amping the speaker, the lower switch should be set to the left. Now I would guess what that does is electrically separate the woofer section of the crossover from the mid/tweeter section. Something you'd have to do to bi-amp the speaker.

We are talking about two different switches here. The bi-amp switch is the one on top. The one on the bottom should be the one used to attenuate the high frequencies; one position for 0dB, the other for -1.5dB. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to move these speakers into my playback system, so am unable at the moment to check this by ear.
 
Well could be my treble switch needs some Deoxit.

Edit. My switch wasn’t working. Checked the other speaker and full treble is to the right.
