Help with my CR-620

I could use some help with replacing the dial cord on my Yamaha CR620. Is there anyone that lives around Boston that could help me with this? I know that it isn’t hard but I’m having trouble doing it. I would appreciate any help that I can get. You can PM me if you can help me.

Dial cord routing is covered in service manuals, check hifiengine, you'll have to set up an account. This is an easy job when you have the pictorial . If you must replace it all, I use bait casting fishing line, no problems with it. I'd just send a pic of my 620 out of the cabinet, but it's buried in a stack of gear. Just remember the spring in the tuning cap pulley must keep tension on it, or its gonna slip on the tuning knob shaft.

Did you get the tuning capacitor put back together?

Thank you I do have a account with hifiengine. I just don’t know why I can’t get the dial to go the full way from end to end. That’s what I need help with.
 
Yes I can tune in stations. But I can’t get it so it will tune end to end. It’s either one side or the other. If I set it for 108.7 then it wouldn’t go past 90.1
It’s driving me crazy
 
Taz, does tuning cap go from full mesh (closed) to full open? The 2-piece gear may not be fully aligned half-to-half. Hard telling from your pix. If one half of that thing's out of time with its counterpart, that may be your prob.
 
I’m ready to throw in the towel. No matter what I do it never works. I really hate to see this receiver going to waste. So if there is anyone out there that’s will to help me I will totally appreciate it. I live north of Boston and willing to drive to the north or south. PM me if you can help me.

It would be nice if someone with a 620/820 on the bench could just send a few pics & you could go from there. I have recurring problems uploading pics on here with my phone, it says"file too large". I've already dumbed down the pic sizes as far as possible. Shiite! Otherwise, I'd do so myself. My luck, I pull one out of their respective installations, take pics, & the damn things fail to load. I have a 620 & an 820, dial stringing is essentially the same. Don't hang it up yet!
 
There's a thread on the 620 on solid state forum, pics of it opened up show most of dial cord routing. go see if it helps. Following the pulleys can help fill in any blank spots, good luck!

Thank you for the encouragement. I’m not a person that gives up on things. I just get so frustrated that I can’t do it. I’m what you call a perfectionist. I will research things until I find what I need. But this receiver is like a Black Hole. Keeps Sucking me in.
Every time that I think I have it fixed and move the tuning dial it doesn’t line up with the stations. I will get it to work if it’s the last thing that I do.
