Help with Scott 222 : Red Plating

or it was replaced at some point prior, hard to say. I can't read the date codes on it so no idea when it was made. I've seen that Atom packaging on things from the 70s though.

I used yellow ATOM caps in my DIY subwoofer crossover. A LONG time ago. :)

I use DeoxIT D5 with an orange Dentek brush in the sockets. I have done literally 10 Scott amplifiers in the last two years and the tube pins were also a problem. Just yesterday, I had an LK-48 that dropped the right channel. Cutting to the chase, it was the 6U8 for the right channel. The tube socket had been cleaned. Tubes tested "NOS". The next issue had to be the tube pins. They are cleaned simply by scraping them with an X-ACTO knife. Tube pins are not plated but they will corrode. Very easy to carefully scrape each one.

Also, when those coupling capacitors are replace, most of the problems should be resolved. Pyramid are paper capacitors.
 
Also, I have had only one tube socket that was not able to cleaned enough. I have not had to re-tension the sockets. Rather, I replace any that will not be tight. The 9-pin output sockets have been the only issues. Preamplifier and phase inverter sockets have always cleaned up and not had any problems. Think about this, the 7189 (or 6BQ5) tubes are tall and therefore can exhibit "leverage" on the socket if/when tubes are rocked back and forth. Also a reason to always remove the 7189 tubes when the amplifier is inverted on the bench. All too often, they get bent sideways.
 
Not really sure when the unit was refurbished. Perils of buying vintage for a newbie. I'll see to it that those pyramid and black cat get replaced.
Appreciate the advise, gentlemen. Now diving into the capacitor pages for more learning.
