Help with some Wharfedale W70s

Done that. Had to seal the little hole with a panhead screw. Not the prettiest, but it saves the (vintage!) sand.

And you know how much emphasis we put on keeping things original around here. Good going on the save! What'd it smell like?

Just ordered the Daytons 1% tolerance from PE. Will let you all know how things go and how they sound. I will likely get some PIOs if I'm not satisfied, but for now this will be my first attempt.

Also, I've been given a Sansui 9090 receiver by a friend who didn't want it (see post over on the Solid State forum if you wish) and been going through and doing some deoxit cleaning of all the pots and switches, replacing some burned out lamps etc. etc. How do you all think that receiver would match with these W70s once I have it up and running again?

it will probably sound magical, just go easy on the volume knob, that big sui has way more power than the Wharfedales were really designed to handle. If you don't turn it up so you can hear it next door, it'll probably be a great combo.

AHHAHA, yeah. With the 9090 properly tuned, you'd be hard pressed to find a pair of speakers that didn't sound great with it.
