I have been wanting some Klh 6's for my 626.

So i decided to do a research on kloss and never even realized he was born in my own Town Altoona, Pa In 1929 before he went to MA.

now only if i could find some nice klh 6's or
AR-3's here

Cheers to Henry, may God rest his soul.

I was born in Sharon, PA and have 3 pairs of large Advents, a pair of AR4s and a pair of AR7s.

There was what looked to be a single KLH Model 6 on the sidewalk near the corner of MA 119 and MA 2A/110 in Littleton Common (MA) this evening. I only realized what it was via rear-view mirror... too late to turn back!

PLENTY of them out there. My pair were dump finds, needing only new caps in the XO for full functionality. Cosmetics weren't even bad (all things considered) -- grilles intact.

Henry was a clever and driven guy. Even his last designs, for CSW (and, of course Tivoli) were good.

Kloss's Model 6 and Model 17's were also availbable as Cambridge Soundworks models. Albeit with vinyl clad cabinets.

I've got a pair of CSW 6's in my upstairs stereo. I love em'.

While Cambridge SoundWorks is a great company, with a great 10 year no questions asked warranty on speakers, both the CSW Model 6 and Model 17 PALE in comparison to the originals. Don't get me wrong, when they were first available I recommended them to a great many people, but they are nothing like the originals.

The original 6 and 17's used 10" woofs in rock solid cabinets. The CSW 6 is an 8" woof and the CSW 17 is either a 6" or 5 1/4". While the cabs don't leave a lot to be desired, they aren't constructed like the originals.

Even better with the XO mod published some years back in audioXpress.

Was that X-over design intended for the KLH 6 or CSW 6? Any more info on it?

CSW Six, and it is just as TA said... the CSW Six is a different beast. Not a bad little beast though.

PM me if you're really interested in the CSW Six XO upgrade.

Don't forget one that he almost certainly did for HH Scott before it died. Do a search for the Scott SPS1B-200 or just the SPS1. Portable powered sub/sat speakers with a special fitted bag that allowed the speakers to play without removing them. The integral SLA battery was the "regulated" power supply. Now, doesn't that say Henry all over? I think so.

Just moved these up to the computer room a couple days ago to see if it would be them or the Seventeen's. I think the six's will stay, for now.:smoke:

One of my favorite speaker designers. A true genius, IMHO.

The Model Six were my first vintage find at a pawn shop for $25. Second pair were Seventeens at a yard sale for $20 IIRC. Both are re-capped and sound excellent. Both have liquid mids and wonderful transient response.

My little Tivoli Model Two, another Kloss design, is my work radio.

RIP, Mr. Kloss.
