Sigh. That was the grading for both disc and jacket.
Either they didn't actually grade it, or they were eating a burger and fries while they did so, and then put it on top of the refrigerator for 3 weeks before remembering to list it.

You can clean that off. Strap the lp to the top of your vehicle & go thru a car wash.

What a grungy mess.
 
I once bought a record on Ebay that just said "Plays good!". It looked like they used it as a frisbee on a gravel driveway.:rolleyes: I opened a "Not As Described" case. The seller never responded, and Ebay refunded my money without even asking me to return it. It went in the trash where it belonged.
 
Same experience. “Excellent “ condition LP that I bought a year ago on eBay. I cleaned it, then took pics and posted to seller. They refunded my money. They said it was visually graded. Those RayBan glasses have to be removed prior to “visually” grading records, I think.

Bobby Hackett soft jazz. Project 3 label are normally extremely good.

That's one reason I prefer to buy from local record stores whenever possible (so I can see it for myself). Even with the goldmine scale, grading is ultimately a subjective thing, and simply put - some sellers veer way off from the accepted standard. I don't do much selling, but I always conservatively grade anything that I do.

OP, I hope you can get a refund.
 
Buying online or discogs has been about 50/50 success for me. I prefer record shows even if it’s a little more pricey. At least I know what I getting.

Very much agree with this... but I also think that few to none here would hold this LP and come to any conclusion other than G at best.

But besides that, I find it difficult to grade a record that quite literally has substances *caked* to it spots, dust, hair etc, all at the same time. :)
 
Got a 50% refund from the seller finally this morning. That was my requested amount and about what I'd have paid in a used shop had I seen the *clean* condition. Not the copy I wanted, but after one thorough cleaning it plays reasonably well (it needs a second go) ... honestly, well enough for a VH album, e.g. there are few-to-no quiet passages. :) So at least it wasn't a huge pain.

you know its clean. The wire brush gets everything.
 
Problem is there are some idiots online with no morals. I bought a Denon 304, it was listed as having a distorted channel. Pic was of a Denon 304 with a boron retipped cantilever. The one that he sent has the base of the cart missing, an ALUMINIUM cantilever, stylus rotated to the side and totally collapsed suspension, it was a totally different cart. I confronted the seller and he retorted that it was a Denon 304 and that was what the listing was for :rflmao:I said to him it was like selling a model of car and when the person comes to collect it you present the same model as listed but doors are missing and it is a rust bucket. He still refused to cooperate, but ebay stepped in and refunded me. Cant believe he thought he could get away with it..

I bought a brand new cartridge with a dead channel. Vendor didn't reply to 2 messages. Messaged ebay and had a return label next day. PayPal has helped me a couple times too. Didn't use it for this for some dumb reason.

Oh I very much do as well. This fella had 99.something % with about 150 ratings.

He gave me a very health partial back (after another couple days radio silence) when I prodded again, so I'll give him the benefit of doubt this go around that he was just being lazy. I dunno. It's not the most silent copy after cleaning (again), but it's good enough for me for this album. Was still worth the "drug through the mud" photo post for some commiseration though. :)

Priceless! (much more so than the Denon) Yeah I just don't understand that way going through the world. Ah well.
