HH Scott 222 (a) selector switch problem

Thanks for the suggestions. I know I have a schematic of this unit somewhere. I should locate that and see if I can figure out what is going on with the cap you mentioned. When I purchased this particular set of (2) Dynaco Amps, I took them to a experienced technician and he is the person that changed out the caps for the blue caps you see there by the board. I assumed he knew what he was doing. As I knew absolutely nothing about these amps at that time. Now I know only "very little" about them. But thanks to help from people like you on AK gives me a little more knowledge.

I do see what you are saying about the board being "pretty crispy". I feel these are worth it to me for a few $$ to bring them up to spec.
 
Here's the assembly manual, with pictorials and the schematic. The pictorial at the back shows the original layout and components underneath. If you work through it with the amp in front of you, you will be able to see how it was assembled. http://www.curcioaudio.com/mk3_mnl.pdf

The blue caps underneath show that your tech has checked the bias circuit, which is good. If you get the can cap and three film caps (1 x 0.1uf, 2 x 0.25, all at 600V), and you carefully solder these replacements in, you could well solve the hum. If you want a new stuff board later, you'll only be out a few dollars for the three film caps, because the can will remain. The multisection is the main cost, but worth spending $$ on (30, 20, 20, 20uF at 550V).

Thank you for that link. I just found my original copy of the assembly manual as well. I will order the Can Cap and the film caps. I will give it a go.

Great. Just take careful note of the polarity with the multisection can. Make sure you know where negative is. :)
 
I will be very careful. I will first read the entire assembly instructions , but that was also my concern, to be sure I have the polarity correct. I thought I had read somewhere the # system for the can contact order. I will be sure to double check.
