HiFi Engine error

Makes sense but I had no idea bots would be used.
I'm old and often learning something new here. Thanks

Getting the following error. Has been an issue for awhile but now it's getting annoying.

View attachment 3002909

I have done nothing inappropriate and just use them for technical information and an occasional manual.

Even tried to set up another account but bounce back is not accepting new members.....

Any ides????
I got into a real fight with the guy regarding Vinylengine. In fact, I left a bad review on a review site and he protested it saying I had never been a member. I forwarded his last cancellation email to me, used it in my response to the sites request for proof, and my review stood. :rflmao:

The guy is really aggressive about banning people. And It's always permanent - and he seems to constantly monitor new members and look for the same person creating a new account with a different email address. And the first time he banned me he blocked my entire ip address at my work site. i.e. nobody there could even see the site. Comically, I could still get there from my home computer. I was just using my work computer when I was banned. BTW, He also deleted everything I'd ever posted on the site. It was as if I'd never existed on that site.

The reason he disputed my complaint was that it pretty much mentioned what I've said here, that he seemed to be downright vindictive, and how he seemed to care about ip addresses and MAC addresses. And the email he sent me that proved I had been a member there included all six of my aliases I had used there over a couple of years. The comical part is that after the first infraction I did very little on the forums and was very polite and respectful. He didn't care. He'd banned me and identified that I tried to become a member under a different email address and that was that.

It's easy enough to set up another account there if you really have to get to the information, but you'll probably have to use your phone as a hotspot if he's banned the IP you always use at home or wherever you access his site. Heck, if I was desperate I'd just set up an account with my wife's laptop at a local coffee shop's wi-fi. But I'm not...yet.

It's his site and he's allowed to run it as he sees fit, but I just choose not to participate other than pull information off the site. It's kinda weird. I did a "whois" search on the site once and it seemed to be backed up by a lot of money, but I don't know how he makes money with the site. Maybe it's just out of the goodness of his heart that he offers the info. A regular Dr. Jekyl. But regarding how he polices the site, he is more of a Mr. Hyde. I dunno... Like I said, it's his site, not mine. Maybe he and I would get along great over a beer or single malt.

As you can see, this had a pretty strong impact on me at the time. I'd never been banned before, and I've been very active on internet forums since 1997.

HFE does NOT work well (actually at all) with VPN's and adblockers.
I have to shut both off (actually shut adblocker off and "pause" VPN long enough to do a download) mine if I want to download anything.
I rarely download documents, it seems some of their issues are with people who download large groups and then offer individual downloads for purchase?
Yep. I forgot that literally on a lark I tried to go there when I was in VPN mode and it didn't work. I wonder why that site has so much problem with people trying nefarious stuff with it.

BTW, He also deleted everything I'd ever posted on the site.
Some countries require removal of content when someone is banned and asks for it to be removed. You didn't say you asked but maybe removal is necessary even without the request.
I had been a member there included all six of my aliases
Not playing by the rules. Yup. Causes issues.
If he is not accepting new registrations, gonna be hard to sign up again no matter what you try.

Glad the lack of this resource isn't an issue for you and of course, akers can be helpful and supply something you might need and can't get.

Righto. This thread for some reason has created a lot of moderator workload and while the initial question and solution was great, it now seems it's devolved into attacks on the HiFi Engine site/owner, who provides a valuable service to the hobby and with whom AK has no beef.
