Your telling me. The tuner is not working but at this point I really don't care. I had it hooked up to some Jamo's and they never sounded better but I had to test them on my KLH 17's, HK40's and AR4x's. The HK 40's are considered the weakest of the 3 but they actually benefited the most from the amp. The AR's had a bit more sparkle and the KLH's sounded a little better than I recalled. All three pairs of those old speakers really need a new homes as they sit sadly in the garage ignored by their owner. :(
I'll likely be looking for advise on the tuner at some point but for tonight I drug out the vinyl and were chilling on a analog cloud.:beatnik:
Oh and is there anything quite as elegant as vacuum tube is? It's a small universe on to its self.
 
Just wait till you see gas regulators, they are pretty to see running,they glow orange or purple depending on which tube it is, OA2 OC3 OD3 etc...
It is the bright one in this Altec 340 without flash, not the greatest pic.

I saw one once in an ancient Motorola or EV P.A. amp, It was purple and it glowed quite brightly. It belong to an Auctioneer and I wanted to buy it but his son wanted a small fortune and then some for it. BTW Your old Altec is pretty sweet.
 
Just wonder if anyone knows what the difference is between 7408 and a 6V6 GTA. The amp came with 7408 but now has GE the GTA's in it. Would there be a noticeable improvement in sound and is there any risk with it having the 6V6 GTA's in it?
