Very impressive speakers.. At first I was thinking the price seemed a little high, but after reading he is throwing in other gear at that price, so long as the gear is pretty decent (he says high end) I would think that someone might be getting a really nice deal for that two grand..

I'd seriously consider it if I had the money, and needed a really sweet setup..
 
If the grills are present and they work properly, they're easily worth the 2K.

Now, consider all of the SAE gear that you get with em for the BIN, and those are a steal!:yes:

Wow! I would have thought 604's paired with a complete SAE system for that asking price would be recession proof, apparently i thought wrong.

The initial high-price is keeping the vultures away.

It will be an enthusiast,who is buying for keeps(as opposed to a Flipper)who will snap this one up.
 
Those are identical to my Model 17s. I love mine. If someone could scrape up the dosh they oughta gettem. I would bet after not getting his price met after listed for a few days he will be ready to bargain a little.

It seems they usually bring around $1500 for the speakers alone. And they weigh more like 140# each.

I keep repeating.."i'm happy with what I have I'm happy with what I have"...And I am...but 604 8g and a rack of SAE gear? (the SAE was mentioned in an Ebay listing for the same equipment).

There's a concurrent ebay listing for these, seller mentions SAE pre, power, and tuner, plus a vintage TT and CD with no make mentioned, all thrown in for the BIN.

Depending what the SAE gear was, and possibly the TT, a fella could buy the lot, flip the source gear, and have himself a pair of model 17/604-8G pretty reasonably, cheap actually.

Lately, I've been discouraging my scrounger buddies from our area from accumulating too much stuff (like I am trying to do). But this is kind of the holy grail, so you should consider it.

I don't have a room where I could see these long-term and I'm not a dealer / flipper, don't have the time or energy for that.

I was gonna stay out of this one, but when you start talking that way...I'll help you move them. BTW, my house is just east of Sycamore, We can make a rest stop here. :D
 
Hmm...other excuses...I don't have paypal, and I'm out of checks. Uhh.....I think they'd kind of ugly up my place, and I'd have to move them when I switch apartments...

Snade, you go get 'em. I'd help as well if you need it. At least one would fit in my wagon.

We could make a Chicago AK group buy, and have a sign up sheet. They're so big that some lucky member would probably just end up with them! I look at those pictures and can't believe that's a 15" driver. It's like a fridge.

John, I'd help with the move. Put Ed in charge of logistics, he's good at this stuff. :yes:
 
Ed, could we store them in your garage?

I'd help move them and kick in some bucks for a group buy. I don't really think I can use them, but I'd go in on a deal with Ed, John and Snade, knowing we would work out something that made sense for who is the best fit for these guys. Maybe bring in Powerman ? Seriously.
