Has anyone determined what the Linear Tracking TT is? Something like a PX-2 or -3 would make that an even sweeter deal!
That idea for an area "lodge" isn't such a bad one, for any area with enough AK-type audio fans. Start with a place big enough to store and play with gear. Might be a member's garage or barn, even, and said member would have free lifetime membership, plus (obviously) the most convenient access to the gear. People pool funds (Dues? Donations? Fun fund-raising stuff?) and get good stuff like this that most agree on getting. All get to come and listen, and perhaps a circular lending arrangement, whereby everyone would get a chance to keep certain gear in their home for a specified period of time. You could have regular gatherings to audition gear and share music finds, and just socialize.
Come to think of it, you could do this without a place, too, just using peoples' living rooms, like the Athens club does, although a dedicated place would be an asset.
Anyway, back to the topic: I hope one or more of you guys gets that stuff, and if y'all do, please come back and share the details!

I'm so tempted by these. Too many big speakers right now. I did write about the the equipment included. Just in case there was a MK6 or something that would put me over the edge. Common sense has prevailed...
But for you guys that may still be interested.. here is his reply.
SAE PreAmp 3000; SAE Two Tuner T14; SAE 01 Series 2401. (I have 2 Pre-amps that are identical) I bought an extra 1 on ebay to use as spare parts because some of the slide controls on the front were bent in the moves, which can be bent back but the plastic piecs to hold on the end broke off (just 1 I think) BUT I also had a possible short somewhere and had to wiggle one of the controls to get sound out of both speakers occasionally. I was advised NOT to take it to inexperienced local electronics store & let them "jerry-rig" something. I preferred to have original parts, but never did take it to anyone to fix. It still worked fine most of the time.
The turntable is JVC & the CD Player is Pioneer (later additions).
But for you guys that may still be interested.. here is his reply.

I wonder which JVC LT that is? I have a QL-L2 that is an incredible piece of equipment. I also have an L-L10 belt-drive that I bought for parts for the L2, and it also seems like a very nice TT.

Talked to Ed this morning and we are both in the same boat - see this as a potential good deal, but neither one of us can see how the speakers or the electronics fits-in to our long-term audio plans.
My interest level has declined since last night. It may go up again tonight after 3 beers.

I'm also in this boat. I'd love to have a pair, even for a while, but I move around a lot with my job and can't imagine living with these as my main speakers, as much as I'd want to. If I had a house with a furnished basement, I'd already have them in my car (one at a time, though).
I have some Jim Beam in the kitchen, maybe I should drink up some courage.
