Hooking up new Sub-Woofer

Hello, Trying to hook-up sub-woofer to system but based upon directions I do not understand the hook-up between Pre-Amp/Receiver/Sub? Help needed...

Directions tell me to use 2 sets of RCA cables, going from pre-amp to Sub & receiver to Sub but I do not have any additional RCA slots left on pre-amp, except the XLR slots. Could I get to 2 XLR cables and connect them to a Y-Cable going into Receiver then have RCA cables going out to Sub?

System is only running 2 Channels & will only be used for Audio... Suggestions welcome

Picture are in order below
Pre-Amp: Parasound Zphono XRM
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V681
Subwoofer: RSL Mk. 2
Stylus: Grado (MM)

I think it's one or the other, the preamp out or AVR sub out. Your subwoofer has a LFE input so you can use the single sub out on your AVR. BTW I have a RXV681 and the back panel does not look like what you posted.
The main question for me to try to understand is, how do you integrate the preamp into your Avr system?

A couple things. Your "preamp" is a phono preamp, used just for your turntable. It's not part of this picture, so forget about it in terms of hooking up your sub.

I don't think I've seen a sub amp that only had speaker level inputs... with no provision for speaker level outputs... but that doesn't matter, as they are just connected without any circuitry inside anyway; just a means to continue the runs to your main speakers. Interesting.

Anyway.. you have a couple options. Run a single RCA cable from the Sub 1 output of our receiver to the LFE In jack of the sub amp. Leave your regular speakers hooked up as they currently are. Done. Alternately, you could run both Sub 1 and Sub 2 outputs via a pair of RCA cables to pair of line in jacks of your sub amp. I don't think that would gain you anything, but you could do it.

Another option would be to run left and right speaker cables from the L/R Front speaker terminals on your receiver to the sub, and then just get another pair of speaker cables and run them from the same posts (two wires per post, either on the sub or the receiver... whichever will accommodate the double cable the best and make the most convenient cable routing for you).

I'd go with the line level option, but they'll both work.

I didn't notice but I now see your preamp is a phono preamp so you would run that to any line input on your AVR, then use it's sub out to the subwoofer.

If you are just running a single pair of speakers use the speaker line out from your receiver-go to your pair then run speaker wires from one speaker to the speaker line in or just run a pair from the receivers one speaker out to the sub speaker line in.{(that would be two pairs of speaker wires coming out one channel of the receiver) don't worry no significant current is going to or "through" the sub. this way you are giving the sub the full signal and can then make your crossover adjustments at the sub using the sub controls. hope this makes sense lol

I had an Andrew Jones little pioneer 8" sub. I used the two available speaker level inputs. ( No outputs) Ran jumpers to the satellites. Seemed to work well.

The Zphono has no role to play here. Eliminate it from the chain because its confusing you.
