Hooking Up Optimus EQ to Denon 1025 - Frustrated

The Denon has the usual Tape Monitor plugs, but also contains a Pre and Main outputs as well.

Followed the Optimus operator's manual to hook up to the receiver via tape monitor and while the LCD indicator works, the EQ itself isn't linked in to the sound itself. Tried all the Tape Monitor options on the EQ and receiver - still no luck.

Changed it to the receiver's Pre and Main outputs to the main in and out on the EQ. Works fine, but the LCD indicator sits idle.

I just don't get it. I want both LCD and EQ to work. Any suggestions?

The Denon is a DRA 1025-RA and the EQ is an Optimus 31-2030.

If you hook the EQ up to the pre out and main in on the receiver it will always be "in the loop". Just make sure that the bypass button is not pressed on the EQ. If you hook it up to the receiver via the tape monitor connection you will have to have tape monitor selected on the receiver. My spectrum analyzer display on my Realistic EQ doesn't really move unless I turn the volume up a bit and listen to music. While running the TV signal through it just doesn't have enough signal strength to move the display.

When you have the EQ in the tape monitor loop with the tape monitor engaged, do you also have the record out selector knob turned to the source you want to hear through the EQ?

I'm f***ing retarded.

Had the main on the EQ hooked up to the VDP on the receiver instead of the Tape Monitor.

Moral of the story: Use more light to see what the hell I'm looking at instead of assuming and coming on here to ask questions.

Thanks anyway, folks.
