How bad is this power supply ringing?

Add to the places dowto1000 has been kicked out of is the Altec Users Group. Same thing he does everywhere he goes, preaches that it is his way or nothing at all. The moderators relented and let him back in, that lasted maybe a week or two and he was booted for good. When I tried to argue stuff with him on technical merits he resorted to attacking me personally.
Jeff, you need to change your ways. "Do it my way or your (amp), (speakers) or whatever will suck" mentality will just not fly here either.
This is a great group of folks and it won't be tolerated.

Thanks for your lovely post. Does anyone ever wonder why I am so consistent when sharing my experiences and views in tube audio???

If only you, or the Altec User Group Moderator, would have had some direct listening experience, one would instantly understand that what I suggest, ( at least in my own opinion ), is true !!

But with absolutely no direct listening experience, it certainly is easy to have much misunderstanding with me suggesting any new idea or way to execute things !!!

A very first logical step for you might be to actually listen to what I consistently endorse, and determine in your own mind, if its worth having .

There were top notch audio people visiting at RMAF, in 2016 and 2017, who stayed in the listening room, two and three hours at a time, lost in the music and also transfixed as to what they were hearing. Results vary from year to year, ( due to a lack of manpower and set up time ), but hopefully, Denver 2018 will be just as good, or perhaps a bit better. I can DIY help you, if you hear it and like it. Be happy to do so.

Thanks kward, I did consider using the 5AR4 but would need a dropping resistor to bring voltage down. When I originally designed the power supply I just aimed for the voltages and used a power supply transformer that I was originally going to use for a mono amp with a 5y3 tube I had. I then decided on using that transformer for this project since it had 115ma rating I figured it would be fine for a rh84 style amp. I'm in my shop soldering this baby up right now, will post pics when she is all done and lit up. Thanks again everyone! This has been one of my more interesting threads.

Good choice. Adding a series resistor in the B+ filter, leading to the Finals tube, would negate the benefit of the heftier tube rectifier. We always seek the least series resistances when powering the Finals tube.

The moral of all this, to me, is one must plan in advance, think out carefully, the entire amp before committing parts, time, and money.

The cost of our Hi Fi systems is all the mistakes we make over time, to arrive at where we personally want to be.
