How big is your music collection?

The largest record collection I ever saw was owned by an ex-girlfriend's father. He made $$$$$$ and lived in a huge house. The basement was his domain - it was completely soundproofed and I believe he had Klipschorns powered by Mac equipment with one seat positioned in the sweet spot. I would estimate he had about 6,000 - 10,000 albums in custom made floor to ceiling cabinets all around the room. It was quite a breathtaking sight and this was back in 1973 and he was still pretty young.

His daughter had a rock collection of about 600 albums which he bought for her.

The doors to the basement were like the ones in a broadcast facility - thick, heavy and sound proofed.

It left quite an impact on my 'young' mind.

Another friend, Art Collins, an A&R guy at Atlantic and Chrysalis had a huge collection also.

you should have married her :beerchug:

Estimating:
Bout 300-400 ceedeez
bout 350 lpeeez
bout 50 cassettes
maybe 8 8 tracks
bout 20 45's

(they are all some form of rock/metal)

1K albums... mostly 1950-1970's Jazz and Rock
Approx. 300 CD's ......
I would have more, but I don't have the space or time.

35ish LPs (bought by me... i have plenty more old inherited ones)
20ish 45s (ditto)
8000+ MP3's (50 GB itunes library lol)

300 CDs
600 LPs
plus a bunch of songs on my hard drive.

In the past few months I've more than doubled my LP collection for chump change.

Too many to count so I posted some pics.
80 Open Reel tapes upstairs not pictured.
1000 cheapy TDK AD and Maxell UD tapes upstairs full of radio shows and stuff...
Where do I go for help?

Probably around 150 CD's maybe three tapes (cassette) and 20 LPs'....and I don't remember how many MP3's...thousands...but they're mostly archival of my CD's so I don't know if that counts.

About 400 cd and 100 lp. Lately I find that I am not playing any of my collection because the sound of fm from WQXR 96.3 is so good and their classical selection is excellent. Equipment Sony str 6800 and modified JBL 82(sometimes Sound Dynamics RT3 speakers).

all figures are estimates...

25 gigs MP3

200 CD's

LP's I should count some day. My collection is 4 shelves tall, all four run laterally wall-to-wall, about 18 feet.

I see Hot Tuna's self-titled in there... You need no help. I, on the other hand, am still missing 2 LP's to complete my Hot Tuna. I need help with that. :smoke:

Around 300 cassettes and 300 CDs, LPs exactly I don´t know. Most of my music is rock, jazz-rock, blues and jazz.
